![]() Starfield Xbox Game Pass Release Times Confirmed By Bethesda Xbox Game Pass: All Games Coming Soon In September 2023 The Xbox Series X Is 'At The End Of The Beginning', Says. How To Complete All Xbox Game Pass Quests In 2023 Even offer to release a 'Physical' edition later down the line (as some indies get) with the patched/fixed code preserved on disc, instead of the early 'Gold' code that had to be sent weeks before the game launches, older code than those that buy digitally day 1 as that's already updated.ĭigital allows for much more immediate access and as the vast majority access 'digitally', they don't need to wait 'weeks/months', waste time/money on marketing to 'boost' sales/pre-orders and can 'boost' Subscription numbers too - not 'ready/prepared' to pay £70+ to play 'today' (let alone if you were also planning to buy a Console too) as the game you were looking forward to playing is shadow dropped, pay a 'small' fee for Game Pass and play on what you have today and consider 'buying' next week/month etc. ![]() Therefore, they could certainly shadow drop any game. I know some maybe upset they couldn't pre-order a Physical copy (those XSX owners that ONLY buy Physical and/or don't have Game Pass - so either have to buy digitally, Subscribe or wait/miss out) but they don't need 'months' for building up 'pre-orders', months to build up 'hype' to increase initial sales, which can 'flop' soon after if the game isn't great anyway, as those figures would be 'impacted' by those who will play via Game Pass. They could do the same with Starfield too - just as the show ends, Todd Howard announces its 'available now' on PC/Xbox and Cloud. The time it takes from going 'gold', manufacturing and distributing discs around the world to have sufficient stock to meet 'pre-orders', to meet launch day sales etc is not necessary for Digital games, not necessarily 'bothered' by Pre-orders and/or 'day 1 sales' figures - both likely impacted by those who will play on Game Pass and/or buy digitally anyway. PC and Series S gamers tend to buy digitally only - especially as Series S has no disc drive anyway. The only 'Xbox' customers that buy Xbox games on a Physical disc are those 'Series X' customers who prefer to buy Physical and/or not subbed to Game Pass. With more and more people choosing to access their games 'digitally' - whether that's Purchasing from a digital retailer or accessing through a Subscription service, they can release games as and when they want, including shadow dropping games like Hi-Fi Rush.
